There is no question that e-mountain bikers primarily have sporting ambitions. However, more and more bikers are also using e-MTBs as all-round bikes - for example, for commuting to work or cruising through the city. Why? Firstly, thanks to the electric drive, you can get to your destination without breaking a sweat, at least if you want to. And secondly, e-mountain bikers have access to all kinds of trails - trails, forest and field paths as well as cycle paths and roads. But if you don't want to get off your bike covered in dirt like a Wiener schnitzel, your bike needs to be equipped for all weathers.
One thing up front: if you want to cycle to the office in business chic on your E-Fully, there's no getting round suitable protective clothing. Because effective Mudguards must be long and close to the tyre so that shoes, legs, back and backside stay dry in wet conditions - fully riders, on the other hand, cannot completely protect themselves from dirt.
When it comes to mounting pannier racks, fully riders are again at a disadvantage. It is true that you can transport light luggage with models that are mounted on the seat stays. However, with every gram of load, you lose comfort and performance, as the rear wheel can no longer spring as usual.
Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to tests and buying advice in EMTB. We don't charge for them, but the opposite is the case: we do charge for them - hundreds of thousands of euros every year.
Not every bike can be fitted with accessories without further ado. The e-MTB must already fulfil certain requirements. Check your bike for these facts:
