Jürgen Militzer is known for bikes with special solutions. The new Mitech 29-inch fully Scenario is set to become an endurance runner thanks to its Pinion drive and Gates belt.

A Mitech is definitely not an off-the-peg bike. The small forge from the Sauerland region has the same attitude towards its latest toy. Like all of Jürgen Militzer's bikes, the new all-mountain fully Scenario 29 hand-welded in Schalksmühle. Mitech clearly focuses on carefree bikers and Alpine crossers who want one thing above all else: no stress with a bike in need of care.

Low maintenance: Pinion drive and Gates belt

This is also the reason why the new Mitech Scenario is equipped with the low-maintenance Pinion gearbox as standard. In combination with the Gates belt, the chain oil can be stored in the cellar. The power is transmitted from the crank to the rear wheel at a ratio of 1:1. The belt is tightened with the in-house belt tensioner, so there is no need for sliding dropouts on the rear triangle. The rear guide rail for the belt has been skilfully integrated into the dropout.

The cables are also integrated. All cables for the gears, brakes and dropper post are routed into the frame on the left-hand side. The cable entries are soldered into the frame and tidy up the bike visually. The brake cable is routed in the rear triangle in the chainstay to the brake calliper.

Classic all-mountain with 150 mm suspension travel

The frame of the Szenario 29 has either 130 or 150 millimetres of travel, the adjustment is located in the rocker. At the front, the All Mountain is designed for 150 millimetre forks. The more sensitive, adjustable Rock Shox Monarch Plus RC3 shock with Piggy Pag is used in the standard configuration. A Rock Shox Pike provides suspension at the front. Tyres up to 2.6 inches wide can be accommodated in the rear triangle.

Mitech also always means custom. The Scenario 29 frame including Pinion P1.18 and Gates belt costs 3439 euros. The rest of the equipment is a matter of taste and will be determined in a personal consultation. The standard frame comes with a 68 degree head angle, 74 degree seat angle and 455 millimetre chainstays. Mitech manufactures its frames to measure for an additional 100 euros. Special requests are also no problem. If you have your own ideas about the cable routing or would like a special paint finish, Jürgen Militzer is always ready to listen. By the way: the scenario is of course also available with classic derailleur gears.

Stefan Frey is from Lower Bavaria and loves the mossy, loamy trails of the Bavarian Forest as much as the rugged rock of the Dolomites. For technical descents, he is prepared to tackle almost any ascent - under his own steam. As an accessories specialist, he is the first port of call for questions about equipment and add-on parts, while as head of copywriting he sweeps the language crumbs from the pages of the BIKE print editions.
