Is fatbike fever now also breaking out in Germany? If you stroll across the Expo site of the BIKE Festivals in Willingen it almost seems that way. Mi-Tech is also showing two new bikes that are designed to make their way through the terrain with extremely wide tyres. The special feature: both models have a geared transmission. Depending on customer requirements, Mi-Tech adapts either the Pinion P1 gearbox or the brand new Rohloff Speedhub XL into the frame.
Fatbike with Pinion gearbox and carbon belt
The Pinion model was fitted with the new Rock Shox Bluto fat bike fork for the festival and rolls on 4.7 inch wide Larry tyres and Surly rims. The frame weight is around 1680 grams, the complete bike should weigh 15.8 kilograms.
Rohloff version with the new Speedhub XL
With a Rohloff hub, you can save another 80 to 90 grams on the frame. Fatbike enthusiasts can let off steam with the equipment. Mi-Tech bikes can be completely customised using the open modular system. Prices start at around 4000 euros. Models with Rohloff drive will be around 600 euros cheaper. Further information can be found on the Mi-Tech Homepage.
