Discreet looks and excellent equipment at a favourable price is Canyon's recipe for success. The design falls by the wayside: in the colourful circle of the test group, the black Nerve looks - to put it positively - timeless. But it is well received. Because almost all Canyons look like this, the hierarchy is difficult to see through - the status symbol effect only comes into play when you look at the spec. And with this, Canyon once again makes a challenge to the competition: Shimano XTR, Formula The One brakes, DT Swiss Tricon wheels and cleverly combined tyres (Nobby Nic Pace Star at the rear, Fat Albert at the front) are hard to beat. But on the Busatte trail, status takes a back seat. The Nerve AM rides well, but leaves a rather unsteady, front-heavy impression on the singletrack. With its sporty geometry and low weight, the bike is clearly aimed at touring bikers and not trail freaks. Going the distance? No problem. Marathon? No problem. Full throttle downhill? You'll feel more comfortable on a Bergamont or Trek. The suspension travel is comparatively short, but the platform brings composure to the suspension on the climbs. Canyon does its homework perfectly in the BIKE test, and that leads to the verdict "super". The advantages and disadvantages of direct sales are well known.
ConclusionBy far the best equipment, by far the lightest bike. The emotions fall somewhat by the wayside.
