In the BIKE test lab, the suspension is the only one to stay under the three-kilo mark, the surface is impact-resistant and the stiffness is high. Because the Nerve is aimed at sporty touring bikers, the Canyon product managers have given it a sporty riding position, lightweight wheels (yes, even 27.5-inch wheels are possible!) and Schwalbe tyres with a Pace Star compound. No other model in this comparison group rides so light-footedly uphill. The shock and fork can remain open, providing comfort and increasing traction. On the downhill section of the test lap, the Nerve AL doesn't show any weakness, runs safely and controlled and is also manoeuvrable enough on singletrails. The telescopic seat post serves as a safety reserve.
ConclusionThe new Nerve not only looks stylish and is fully equipped - it also rides great. The reference in this category.

The alternative
The Nerve AL model is available with different equipment and as a special women's version. The 29er version of the test bike is called the Nerve AL 9.9 and is said to be 200 g heavier with comparable equipment.
