Would you like a little more? If you always answer yes to this question, you can confidently rely on the abbreviation LAB71 for Cannondale brand bikes in future. This code word stands for the brand's high-end models, which are equipped with the finest features from front to back. After the Americans had already announced this step in full-bodied fashion, the first e-mountainbike in the noble series is now available. In addition to the exclusive look and equipment, the price also stands out. The Cannondale Moterra Neo LAB71 costs 12,999 euros. The frame with carbon main frame, geometry and kinematics are identical to the latest evolutionary stage of the Moterra Neo (Click here to test the Cannondale Moterra Neo Carbon 1). 29er wheels, 150 millimetres of suspension travel: this places the e-bike firmly in the all-mountain sector.
The most important change for the latest version of the Cannondale Moterra Neo is in the down tube of the e-bike: Bosch's Smart System with the large Powertube 750 battery. The motor has been slightly rotated so that the long 750 watt-hour battery also fits into small frames. This means that frames in size S with the full 750 watt hours are also possible. Speaking of the motor: the LAB 71 version is not powered by the classic Performance Line CX from Bosch. Cannondale goes all out with the exclusive CX Race. The limited motor is not only slightly lighter, it has also implemented the special Race mode. This releases the thrust particularly directly and aggressively and also has a particularly long overtravel. This is nothing for leisurely touring - but on technical, particularly nasty climbs, it opens up new possibilities and is a lot of fun. Here's our test and all the info on Bosch's power motor!
The LAB71-Moterra is operated by the Bosch LED remote. It can be used to select the U-levels and the display pages directly from the handlebars. Minimalists can also use the LED remote independently without a screen, as the U-levels and battery status are displayed via coloured LEDs. However, the full Bosch entertainment package is installed as standard. This means that the Kiox 300 display is emblazoned above the stem and all the riding data is clearly displayed on various view pages, which can be personalised via the app. A navigation view is also possible. The option of Bosch's system controller in the top tube is not available on this e-bike.
Once with everything, but without cables please! The equipment of the Cannondale Moterra Neo LAB71 reaches into the highest shelf of the manufacturers at almost every point. Above all, the product managers have diligently helped themselves to high-end products from Sram. This also means that many parts manage without cables. Shifting is wireless with the Sram Eagle XX transmissionThe seatpost also relies on Sram's wireless AXS technology. The suspension comes from Rockshox, the Lyrik fork from the top Ultimate series. In combination with the Deluxe shock without reservoir, the focus was on low weight. The extraordinary carbon wheels from the Zipp brand also come from Sram. The 3Zero Moto wheels have a flat rim bed, which is intended to increase traction and comfort. Deceleration is provided by, how could it be otherwise, Sram Code Ultimate stoppers with the inconspicuous stealth design and robust HS1 brake discs in 220/200 mm. In addition to many carbon parts (handlebars, cranks), there is a high-quality front light from Supernova on top. This package costs 12,999 euros. The previous top model Moterra Neo Carbon 1The LAB71 model, for 8499 euros, does not yet go all out in terms of equipment. In terms of weight, the LAB71 model should save a lot. Anyone looking for an E-Enduro will be happy with Cannondale's LT version of the Moterra with 170 mm travel.
