We immediately like the chic, large-volume frame. BMC has given the carbon material a beautiful shape, the rear is made of aluminium. The measured values certify that the bike has the highest stiffness, which is immediately noticeable. On the test lap, the Speedfox feels fast, which is partly due to the tyres, but also to the forward-facing riding position with a steep seat angle. However, if you want to accelerate uphill, you have to master the grip on the shock, because in open mode the rear end rocks noticeably under load. Trail mode, or rather climb mode, brings calm to the ascent. Downhill, the tyres set the limit and the suspension also has less reserves than the most powerful models in this comparison group.
ConclusionIf you're looking for a cool bike that not everyone has - here it is. The Speedfox has a sporty character, but has comparatively simple equipment.
PLUS Stylish design, great frame with very high rigidity, chain guide, sag indicator, five frame sizes
MINUS No crash replacement, no telescopic support, moderate equipment level
The alternative The BMC Speedfox has a lot of room for improvement, right up to the XTR model for 6999 euros. Attractive: The SF02 XT with higher quality equipment and telescopic seat post for 3599 euros. It is said to be 200 grams lighter.
