The focus here is clearly on particularly good climbing characteristics. However, the fun factor is somewhat neglected: the bike runs stubbornly straight ahead and is less fond of playful singletrail surfing. Nevertheless, there is a good balance between agility and straight-line stability. On steeper terrain, the low bottom bracket and the associated low ground clearance mean there is a risk of bottoming out. The equipment is well thought out: a telescopic seat post with plenty of travel, the Fox 34 fork and good Magura brakes. Larger discs would be useful here.
Conclusion: With the E-Contrail, Bergamont builds a well-behaved touring bike and relies exclusively on proven materials for the equipment.
