As the cheapest bike in the highly competitive test field, the Contrail doesn't have it easy. Nevertheless, the youngster from Hamburg does well in terms of equipment and doesn't have to hide from some of its more expensive competitors. A complete Fox suspension system and predominantly SLX shifting components round off the functional picture. However, the inexpensive add-on parts from the house brand Tattoo and the Schwalbe performance tyres still awaken the desire for tuning. Even though the Bergamont is not one of the lightest at 12.6 kilos, the balanced riding position with a central centre of gravity makes you feel comfortable straight away. The well-designed cockpit and the smooth yet responsive rear triangle are also impressive.
ConclusionThe affordable Contrail is at home everywhere. Powerful uphill, powerful downhill and affordable.
+ Balanced seating position
+ Good chassis
