All-mountain fullys for 1500 euros
How much does an all-mountain bike have to cost before you can take it on a tough Alpine tour? We put it to the test: nine models costing around 1500 euros show whether they are really mountain-proof.

Rough footwear, ankle-high, a walking stick in your hand and a snack in your rucksack. What's 1000 metres of ascent when the view from the summit cross beckons! Hiking in the mountains is a great thing and doesn't cost a lot of money. But what if you want to take bikes into the mountains? What does the bike have to be able to withstand, what features does it need and how much does it have to cost to make the tour fun?

Throughout the test season, the BIKE test team mainly deals with models and categories where this question does not arise. Logically, fullys costing several thousand euros know hardly any limits. But not everyone can or wants to invest the value of a small car in their bike. And so we ask ourselves the question: What can fullys for 1500 euros do?

CONCLUSIONHow much bike do you need for an Alpine tour? To have fun, no more than the best models in this test group, as the expedition showed. The 1500 euro class offers an astonishing amount for the money and in practice, to answer the initial question, is actually as valuable as the 3000 mark league ten years ago. In addition, today you get more travel for your money for free. Of the nine test bikes, Giant, Merida and Red Bull receive an unqualified recommendation to buy. If you're clever, you can even get a bargain at this time of year.
