The Radon Slide Trail is characterised by an excellent price-performance ratio. The riding characteristics of this all-mountain bike are a joy and its equipment is top-notch. And for a price under 5000 euros.

As with Focus Jam and Scott Genius the main frame of the Radon Slide Trail is also made of lightweight carbon, while the rear triangle is made of cheaper aluminium. The Radon does not make it under the three-kilo mark. The frame stiffness is also the lowest in this comparison.

In return, the Bonn-based mail-order company has put together the best equipment package. The Fox Factory suspension and the Newmen carbon wheels stand out in particular. A Float-X shock works at the rear. A Fox 36 suspension fork with a multi-adjustable Grip2 cartridge works in the head tube. A flawless Sram X01 groupset is used for the gears. The Radon Slide Trail is decelerated with Magura MT7 brakes in combination with 203 rotors at the front and rear. With these ingredients, the bike tips the scales at 14.5 kilos without pedals. This puts the Radon MTB in the midfield of the comparison. In terms of wheel weight, the candidate secures the best value by far. This not only motivates you to ride uphill, but also encourages you to do tricks and ride actively downhill.

Due to the slackest seat angle (74.7 degrees), you pedal slightly from behind on the Radon. This reduces the pressure on the front wheel on technical climbs and makes control more difficult. We therefore recommend pushing the saddle slightly forwards. The rear works very sensitively even when the chain is pulled and generates a lot of traction. However, it is one of the most susceptible to bobbing in the test. The riding position is compact and comfortable thanks to the short reach. Savings foxes watch out: The Radon Slide Trail 10.0 HD from the 2022 season is currently being sold on the manufacturer's website for a mere € 3999 instead of the regular € 4599 (as of 14 July 2023).

Test summary by Jan Timmermann, BIKE editor:
