A warning in advance: Leave your cheque book in your pocket, do not dial the number of your bike shop and do not write an e-mail to the importers. You can't buy the bikes in this test, they are not available for test rides in any catalogue or shop. Here, nine hand-built one-offs battle it out for the crown of super all-rounder.
INDIVIDUAL PIECES PRESENT THE STATUS QUO
After the competition for the lightest Race-Fully (BIKE 11/07, Winner Scott "Spark" with 7.942 kilos), we invited all manufacturers to the big tuning competition in the all-mountain class this year. The brief was: send us a fully with at least 120 millimetres of suspension travel, reduced in weight and optimised for the widest possible range of use. Bikes that pass a tough practical test and don't just shine in the spotlight of the photo studio. The price limit? Open at the top. We selected the ten most interesting models from the suggestions. There were also some surprises. Only nine made it into the magazine - one model failed to meet the suspension travel specification in the test lab.
CORRECTION IN THE TEST
In the All Mountain Superlight project, the wrong fork was assigned to the Cube "AMS 125". The fitted Magura "MD 120 M Remote" cannot be lowered using the handlebar lever, only locked. The lowering function is only available on the "MD 120 M FCR" model. www.cube.eu
