Capable uphill and confident downhill - the Vitus manages this balancing act best in this test. The British company laid the foundation for the successful overall package with a perfectly balanced geometry. The moderate chainstay length and moderate reach strike the right balance between directional stability and playfulness. The high front end also conveys the feeling of being low and secure on the bike. Even though the slender Fox Float shock provides less comfort than the fork, the suspension travel can be utilised well. The response behaviour and damping control of the Factory fork are unparalleled in this test. This, in combination with the successful riding position, creates a very plush riding sensation. The bike also masters quick direction changes with flying colours thanks to the balanced geometry. The uphill performance is also impressive across the board. The central riding position distributes sufficient weight over the front wheel. This makes it easier to control on technical climbs. Acceleration? Light-footed. The only drawback: the rear suspension bobs noticeably. But if you move the easily accessible platform lever on the shock, things calm down.
"The handling of the Vitus leaves nothing to be desired. The bike is also adorned with first-class components from front to back. Only the warranty of just two years is disappointing."
