Coherent equipment, a good cockpit and even a dropper post: Bergamont doesn't let itself down for 2299 euros. But is the Trailster 6.0 also convincing on the trail?

Despite the 449 millimetre reach, the riding position is not too sporty. The short 50 millimetre stem and the 75.6 degree seat angle compensate for the long main frame and allow you to sit comfortably on the Bergamont. The high total weight of 14.2 kilos remains bearable on the climbs - thanks to the good rolling Maxxis tyres and the climbing gear of the 2x11 drivetrain. Shimano's new 11-speed SLX shifts gears precisely and, with an 11-42 cassette and a 36 or 26 t chainring, has the right gear ratio for every occasion. The rear derailleur damping keeps the chain under tension at all times and thus ensures a smooth downhill ride. The rear end hardly bobs at all. We only used the platform of the shock to tighten it when pedalling out of the saddle. The fork can be locked out completely. Downhill, the Hamburg-based company strikes the right balance between composure and lively handling. The Trailster feels at home on flowing, flat trail sections as well as on steeper, rough sections. When things get faster, the Manitou suspension elements offer too little compression damping for experienced riders. Beginners will like the comfort-orientated suspension. The profile of the Forekaster tyres prefers dry ground. In the wet, the tyres with reinforced sidewalls quickly reach their limits.
