The desire to hunt is deeply rooted in me," says Heinz Endler. The Ottobrunner used to be constantly on the hunt for the perfect photo. The right motif, the right moment, a precise shot. Today, it's more the waves and the big fish that Heinz is after. Until 2001, he was the photographic face of BIKE, but after twelve years, other things became more important. "I spent my life photographing other people's adventures. At some point, the time was ripe for my own adventure." An assignment brought him to Moab. Endler liked it there so much that he pitched his tipi tent and only took on the most important assignments. But the winters were chilly, even in the Utah desert. So he bought an old school bus and travelled down the Mexican peninsula of Baja California. Since then, Heinz has dedicated his life there to the search for the perfect wave. And that may take some time. Because as a surfer, you know that there is no such thing as the perfect wave.
Heinz Endler: "Castle Valley near Moab. I know of hardly any place where the Wild West is more tangible. For the photo, I hired the two cowboys Big Harley and Little Harley, who were allowed to chase bikers instead of herds of cattle for a change."
