As a precaution, Woom is asking customers to have some models of its children's bikes checked because there is a risk of cranks breaking. The recall affects older models: These are the "Original 6" (26 inches) from 2016-2020 as well as the Woom "Off/Off Air 5" (24 inches) and the "Off/Off Air 6" (26 inches) from 2019 and 2020.

Woom is launching a "voluntary precautionary measure" - as it says on the manufacturer's website. It concerns the cranks of the following children's bikes:

  • Woom ORIGINAL 6 (26 inch) 2016-2020
  • Woom OFF/OFF AIR 5 (24 inch) 2019-2020
  • Woom OFF/OFF AIR 6 (26 inch) 2019-2020

Not According to the manufacturer, the models affected are

  • Woom OFF/OFF AIR size 4
  • Woom ORIGINAL 1-5
  • Woom ORIGINAL 6, before 2016 or from 2021
  • Woom EXPLORE
  • Woom NOW
  • Woom UP

The reason for the recall is that there is a "low probability" that the affected children's bicycles could be damaged. Fatigue fracture of the cranks comes. Customers are therefore requested not to use these bikes again until the cranks have been replaced by a specialist.

If there is no authorised Woom dealer in your area, other specialist workshops can also carry out the work. Customers can then claim the costs from Woom and will be reimbursed.

On the Woom website set up especially for this purpose you will find further information on the procedure. You can also check whether the Woom children's bike you are using is affected by the recall.
