The Accell Group, which also includes Raleigh relied on external expertise for the development of the new Raleigh One e-bike. According to several industry media reports, the company has confirmed that Vanmoof founders Ties and Taco Carlier were involved in the development of the new model in an advisory capacity. According to Accell CEO Ertu Bilgin, the aim was to utilise the expertise of the Vanmoof founders for the development of the new Raleigh One.

Raleigh One e-bike: Own product despite assistance

The Accell Group emphasised that the new e-bike is "very much a product of the Accell Group" - from conception to market launch. Although the advisory work of the Vanmoof founders had provided concrete impetus, the technical realisation, production and brand strategy were entirely the responsibility of the Accell Group, it said.

Advice from former Vanmoof employees

In addition to the Vanmoof founders, other former employees of the Dutch e-bike manufacturer also supported the development team on a selective basis, according to the Accell Group. The market launch of the new Raleigh One was scheduled for July 2025. As of August, you can find out when the e-bike will be available on the manufacturer's website.

The cooperation between established bicycle manufacturers and innovative minds from the e-bike industry could serve as a model for future developments in this segment. While the Accell Group can look back on decades of experience in bicycle production, the Vanmoof founders are contributing their expertise in the integration of electronics, software and modern design - a combination that epitomises the increasingly technology-driven e-bike market.

Vanmoof's eventful history

The collaboration with the Vanmoof founders takes place against the backdrop of a turbulent company history. Vanmoof went bankrupt in July 2023after the Dutch companies were declared insolvent by the court in Amsterdam. However, the international subsidiaries were not directly affected by this decision. In September 2023, Lavoie, a subsidiary of the British sports car manufacturer McLaren, took over Vanmoof's assets. Under the new management, the company restarted direct sales of its e-bikes in April 2024. The "S6" series, the first new model series under the aegis of McLaren, was launched on 3 July 2025 and is based on the familiar frame design, but has been technically revised to ensure greater reliability and ease of maintenance.
