Wangen West motorway bridge, just a few kilometres from Guido's home in Ratzenried. The four-lane carriageway of the reinforced concrete colossus is, so to speak, the roof of the Tschugg brothers' practice room.
In order to be able to train all year round, Guido leased the 3000 square metre area from the Heidenheim motorway authority - for 25 euros per year. The Tschuggs had 150 lorry loads of excavated earth tipped between the massive bridge pillars, which they then shaped into a unique dirt park using Guido's excavator. "Even when it rains, you can ride here.
"I've invested 8,000 euros in the park so far. I just bought the portacabin over there for 230 euros on eBay," says Guido. "A lot of people are scratching their heads, but I have to invest in my job. It makes me better and better known and ultimately earns me money again. It would be cool if I built side walls on the bridge and installed floodlights." Arne comments, as he always does when his brother has such ideas: "A leck" - which is probably the Swabian word for "cool".
