Young Tom began his two-wheeled career on a tricycle, followed by a mini-cross bike, until he finally discovered trial bikes at the age of 12 and found his passion. In 1997, he took part in his first competitions and just one year later, at the age of 15, he was already competing on the international stage. At the age of 17, Tom became Austrian champion for the first time - a title he won a total of five times. He also achieved further top placings: in 1999 he came sixth at the UCI World Championships, in 2001 he was UCI Junior World Vice Champion, in 2006 he was crowned European Indoor Champion and in 2008 he became Bike Trial World Champion.
Tom also holds three world records: in 2009, he beat the existing high jump world record in Kaprun with a jump height of 2.89 metres. In 2013, he became the fastest person on a trial bike over the 400 metre hurdle distance in Linz. This feat also landed him on the main evening programme of "Wetten, dass...". In 2024, Tom climbed the most peaks ever conquered in one day on an e-mountainbike (15 peaks). Tom Öhler ended his active career in 2008, moved to Innsbruck in 2011 and has since focussed on show appearances and technical, high-alpine mountain biking. Challenging trails at previously unattainable heights are exactly his thing, and as one of the best trial mountain bikers in the world, he inspires us with his breathtaking adventures in film and video projects.
