New Canyon service: assembly and setup at the customer's premises
Buying e-bikes online, a good idea? The Koblenz-based mail-order company Canyon wants to allay fears with a new delivery service. On request, e-bikes can be fully assembled and adjusted at the customer's premises.

Buying mountain bikes online has become established in recent years. Mail-order bikes impress with good prices and great equipment packages. However, the topic of e-bikes poses new challenges for the mail order business. Other, less experienced buyers and new, seemingly more complex technology are deterring customers from buying online. Added to this is the more difficult situation in the event of damage. Canyon wants to allay its potential customers' fears and offers a personalised delivery service exclusively for e-bikes.

However, the customer is still on their own after delivery. This is set to change with the new service option.

On request, buyers can have their new Neuron:On or Spectral:On bike delivered to them personally, ready to ride. The customer receives instruction and the bike is adjusted to their personal requirements. This special service costs 79 euros and is carried out by Canyon partners Get Bike and LiveCycle.

This is how Canyon describes the new "Ready to ride" delivery:

In addition to the tried-and-tested direct delivery of the pre-assembled bike to the customer's home or personal collection from the Canyon showroom in Koblenz, the customer can choose the "Ready to Ride" delivery as a third shipping option. DHL then delivers the e-bike to a pre-defined service partner near the customer, where it is finally assembled and brought to the customer. Get Bike or LiveCycle will set up the bike directly on site with the customer and provide instruction, after which the customer will complete a test ride. The respective service partner takes care of the appointment logistics. An algorithm running in the background during the ordering process defines which delivery partner is suitable for the customer's location based on the constantly growing coverage areas and the availability of Get Bike and Live Cycle. Shipping costs are already included in the price of 79 euros for this service, but the Canyon Bikeguard transport box, which varies depending on the model, is not.

Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
