12971 BIKE readers took part in our large reader survey. The facts and findings help us to respond even better to your interests in BIKE.

Some things never change - no matter how often we ask about them. For example, Germany has always been ahead of Austria Your favourite holiday destination. And in Trentino (Italy), Lake Garda is and remains the number one destination. Men are still clearly in the majority in our readership - even if women are catching up with twelve per cent.

The situation is different with wheel sizes. In contrast to 2020 29-inch bikes now clearly dominate with 58 per cent. The proportion of electric components is increasing significantly. Almost every tenth BIKE reader now shifts gears electronically. Two years ago, it was just 3.7 per cent. Ownership of a company bike has also risen to almost 20 per cent, a tenfold increase compared to 2020.

Racer or connoisseur? These are our readers

46 % describe themselves as pleasure bikers. They want beautiful landscapes and to relax while biking.

39 % prefer to ride exciting trails. The technical challenge appeals to them.

11 % are best suited to the group of performance bikers. They are looking for a sporting challenge.

4 % See themselves as gravity bikers and like to use the lift for the uphill.

Family people from the south

With 52 % of our readers have children living in their household. In comparison, this figure is only 28 per cent nationwide. Most of you come from Bavariafollowed by the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia in terms of place of residence.

Your bikes: fairly new with 29-inch tyres

On average, the bikes ridden are 4.4 years old. However, 14 per cent still own a 26-inch bike. Most BIKE readers rely on 29-inch bikes (58%), 28 per cent on 27.5-inch bikes.
